What is Twisted Fate All About?

We are a new and exciting Independent Speculative Fiction publisher based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Our aim is to make it easier for new writers in areas of speculative fiction – Fantasy, SciFi, Horror and the many sub-genres – to get their work seen. We all write in this area and know that it’s not always easy finding a publisher willing to look at our work, especially when it falls into the weird and wonderful areas around spec-fic that don’t easily fit into the standard sci-fi, fantasy or horror tropes.

Part of our mandate was to provide help to aspiring writers, especially those in our local area, to get their voices heard. To aid in doing this we aim to publish several charity anthologies with proceeds going to a selected worthy charity such as we released on World Mental Health Day – 10th Oct 2020. This collection was called Darkness and we chose MIND as they do such great work with mental health awareness and care.

WE LOVE NEW WRITERS!

We are all authors ourselves, so we know how difficult it is to break into the published world. If you have something you think is good enough then either send it through to one of our competitions or anthologies – OR – wait for one of our Open Submission windows.

WE SPECIALISE IN SPECULATIVE FICTION!

So if you write SCIFI, FANTASY, HORROR, WEIRD or WONDERFUL then we want to hear from you as your work should resonate with us. If you write any other genre, we’re might not be a good fit, and there are plenty of other publishers out there that will specialise in your style of story.

WE TURN AROUND ENQUIRIES WITH LIGHTENING SPEED!

Once we’ve received your work, we don’t sit on it for months or years – we get reading and like to get back to great writers ASAP. Just bear in mind we only accept submissions during our Open Submissions Window – Generally once per year (We will notify you on this site and our Social Media.) The other time to get in touch is when we have a competition or Anthology brewing.

We tend to have an annual Open Submissions Window of one month usually around May-June time but this will vary year to year. We have just published a Charity Anthology DARKNESS in Oct 2020 but we are planning on a new competition shortly. So keep your eyes on this area of the site and on our Social Media Channels on FB and Twitter.

Who are behind Twisted Fate?

CM Angus

Chris is our financial wizard and CEO, along with being the author of Overstrike, the first novel in the Fixpoint series. Overstrike spans 4 generations of a family haunted by the prospect of an approaching alternate reality where their child has been erased from history.

Nick Stead

As well as being our resident werewolf, Nick is our editor in chief and author of the Hybrid Series of werewolf novels. He can always be found getting his teeth into something new – preferably dark, gritty and drenched in blood.

Gareth Clegg

Gareth is our design guru – responsible for book covers and interior content and layout. As well as his skills in photoshop, he’s another accomplished author with a SteamPunk novel and a series of Weird Western novellas. He enjoys all spec fiction, but loves supernatural, sci-fi and fantasy.
